Services configuration through UI

This sub-project is often called "services configuration UI" as if this project just needs a UI layer. In truth, it includes a UI and a back-end. Vaibhav is working on it.

Status

Vaibhav is doing the following on the project:

  1. creating live screens
  2. guiding Prashant about the CGI program writing

He expects to finish all live screens by Friday evening. (He's been delayed a bit because he's setting up Websites on arctic.merceworld. This will take till tomorrow evening.)

After he finishes all live screens, he'll do the following:

  1. he'll design the high-level modules for his services config module. Already he's supposed to design a Merce::Server.pm to let Prashant T update the server definitions.
  2. he'll continue to guide and check Prashant T's work.
  3. he'll begin writing the back-end code for the module.

All this will start from Monday.

Status

Prashant Tiwari is joining this team. He will be developing all the CGI programs for this module. Vaibhav will be:

  • designing dead screens
  • designing live screens with debugged Javascript
  • designing and freezing schema (already frozen)
  • defining the pseudo-code for the CGI programs and explaining them to Prashant
  • writing the back-end batch-mode programs for the master and slaves for the module

Prashant will write the CGI programs which Vaibhav's live screens will invoke when the user clicks a button on the screen.

Since Prashant is now added to the team, additional UI screens can now be developed, so this project will now build the following UI

  • server table editing screens
  • location table editing screens
  • server-services-map editing screens
  • attribute-values editing screens
  • read-only display screens for services table and service-attributes table

These together will form a full UI front-end for the module, and no back-end editing of any table by the installer will be needed.

Status

Vaibhav has created a small dead screen for just the editing of the server-services-map. No coding has been started yet. Project moving too slowly.
