Positive observations
- Mfilter: they love it
- Single integrated management for both email and web access
- Mailbox quota will allow control over storage of junk mail. The sysadmin likes this.
- Scalability: with larger hard disks and bigger machines, you can use Mtracks for 1000 users each getting lots of mail.
- Code can be customised/changed, new features can constantly be added by Starcom.
- Load balancing not supported for large setups. (Crazy chap!)
Negative observations
- GUI is not nice looking.
- Some questions about why Sendmail and not qmail.
- Web access control based on user, data transfer volume and time of day. This is not there. Also, blocking of Websites based on groups of users (very important, and will be provided very soon).
- Can a user get just Web access and no mailbox? (Partly yes, because mfilter can do it.)
- Support needed for USB modems. (Analog dialup or DSL? Probably analog dialup.)
- Apache for proxy -- why not Squid?
