Client specific Spam control measures at mails gateways

This page contains various client specific spam control measures taken at various
client sites.

  1. Modi Mailgate:
      Modules Enabled on Modi Mailgate
    1. SpamAssassin:

      SpamAssassin is running on this server as per the default configuration
      given here [1] (see section 1)
      Additions:
      whitelisted following addressess in /etc/mail/local.cf so that the mails
      from these addresses will not be detected as spam:
      .*@garbuiodickinson.eu
      .*@dickinsonfowler.com
      lfpw@vsnl.com

    2. sa-update:

      Sa-update is running on this server. It is updating the SA definitions
      as per the default configurations here [1] (see section 2)

    3. Sendmail DNSBL:

      Sendmail DNSBL is running on this server with default DNSBL database
      given here [1] (see section 3)

    4. Greylisting:

      Greylisting on this server is disabled.

    5. Greet Pause:

      Greet pause on this server is implemented as per default configuration
      given here [1] (see section 5)

      Additional changes done:
      The Greet Pause for following IP addresses is set to zero, as these
      IP addresses are allowed to relay:
      220.227.167.226
      220.227.167.227
      210.211.165.186
      203.145.141.38
      210.210.21.73 - This is Qmail server
      210.210.21.74 - This Merce Mail gateway

  2. Pub1 server
    Modules enabled on pub1 server are as follow:
    1. SpamAssassin:

      SpamAssassin is running on this server as per the default configuration
      given here [1] (see section 1)

    2. sa-update:

      Sa-update is running on this server. And updating with the all the
      channels given here [1] (see section 2)

    3. Sendmail DNSBL:

      Sendmail DNSBL is running on this server with default DNSBL database
      given here [1] (see section 3)

    4. Greylisting:

      Greylisting is running on this server with default configuration
      given here [1] (see section 4)

      Additions:
      The following IP addresses are added to whitelist some known IP
      server IP addresses, so that the messages from these server will not
      be greylisted:
      210.193.32.119 - Pub1
      203.123.49.129 - pub2
      66.179.181.187 - pub3

    5. Greet Pause
      Greet pause on this server is implemented as per default configuration
      given here [1] (see section 5)

      Additions:
      The pause is set to zero for following IP addresses:

      The following IP addresses are added to whitelist some known IP
      server IP addresses, so that the messages from these server will not

      Additions:
      Following mail IDs are whitelisted, so that mail from these mail
      IDs will not be greylisted.

  5. Gatekeeper Zodiac

      The mail from: .*@zodiacmtc.com is white listed as some users are
      complaining of there mails being detected as spam.

    2. sa-update:

      Sa-update is running on this server. It is updating the SA definitions
      as per the default configurations here [1] (see section 2)

    3. Sendmail DNSBL:

      Sendmail DNSBL is running on this server with default DNSBL database
      given here [1] (see section 3)
      Removed following to lists from the given default database:
      bl.spamcop.net
      zen.spamhaus.org

    4. Greylisting:
      Greylisting is running on this server with default configuration
      given here [1] (see section 4)

      Additions:
      The /.*@enam\.com/ is white listed. so mail from enam.com will not be
      checked for greylisting.

    5. Greet Pause
      Greet pause on this server is implemented as per default configuration
      given here [1] (see section 5)

      Additions:
      The pause is set to zero for following IP addresses:
      10.1.10
      10.10.10
      10.10.11
      192.168

  6. 2COMS Kolkata Merce Server
    Modules enabled on 2COMS Kolkata Merce server are as follow:
    1. SpamAssassin:

      SpamAssassin is running on this server as per the default configuration
      given here [1] (see section 1)

      Additions:
      There are certain key words which are given explicit positive score to
      stop valid mails being detected as spam, certain keywords which given
      explicit negative score to stop spams being detected as hams.

      Please see the attached files below: kolkata-merce-whitelist.cf.txt and
      kolkata-merce-blacklist.cf.txt.

    2. sa-update:

      Sa-update is running on this server. It is updating the SA definitions
      as per the default configurations here [1] (see section 2)

    3. Sendmail DNSBL:

      Sendmail DNSBL is not enabled on this server.

    4. Greylisting:

      Greylisting is not enabled on this server

    5. Greet Pause

      The Greet Pause feature is not enabled on this server.

  7. TDA server
    Modules enabled on TDA server are as follow:
    1. SpamAssassin:

      SpamAssassin is running on this server as per the default configuration

      Sa-update is running on this server. It is updating the SA definitions
      as per the default configurations here [1] (see section 2)

    3. Sendmail DNSBL:

      Sendmail DNSBL is running on this server with default DNSBL database
      given here [1] (see section 3)

    4. Greylisting is running on this server with default configuration
      given here [1] (see section 4)

      Additions:
      The following IP addresses are added to whitelist some known IP
      server IP addresses, so that the messages from these server will not
      be greylisted:
      172.16.163.0/8
      172.16.173.0/8
      10.8.0.0/8
      10.1.1.0/8

      mails from following domains are not being greylisted at TDA:
      tdacapital.com
      syashadivisors.com

    5. Greet Pause
      Greet pause on this server is implemented as per default configuration

      Additions:
      The pause is set to zero for following IP addresses:

      172.16.173
      10.8.0
      10.1.1
